A long day at the field!

Waking up at 5:00 on a Saturday is not my idea of fun .... unless, of course, we are hitting the road for a soccer or softball game.  As was the case this morning, we were out the door bright and early and headed to Fuquay-Varina.  With a check-in time of 8:30, a two hour drive ahead of us, and a pit stop along the way, we finally left the house at 6:20.  The good Lord must have been on our side, as we saw four deer before dawn, one of which almost introduced him/herself to my bumper (yet another reason to stay in bed until the sun comes up). With me at co-pilot, we finally got on the road around 6:45, and pulled in to Fuquay at 8:30 on the dot - not bad.  Had I been in the pilot seat, we would have definitely been late to the party.

The girls played their hearts out today.  Our first two games were against U-10 teams from Fuquay-Varina.  These were both pretty evenly matched, but we pulled out a win in each.  In game one Jandery scored first with a corner-kick goal, followed by Ashley with two goals (final score 3-0).  Game two was also against a Fuquay-Varina U-10 team, and we pulled out another win, with Jandery scoring two goals (final score 2-0).  Our last game was against what has become one of our arch rivals - Cape Fear (Wilmington) Boston Breakers.  We have played this team five times now this season, each one ending in a loss.  They came out and scored first, but Ireland followed a shot in to goal, and tied it up.  We held strong defensively the rest of the game and came out with a tie.  After four prior losses, this was a HUGE "win" for us ... we might as well have won a gold medal in the olympics.  We didn't play in the final two games of the day, but did hear great thing about those games as well.  They played to a tie in a game against a true U-10 Fuquay-Varina Academy team, and lost a heartbreaker 3-1 to Cape Fear Barcelona (our other arch rival this season).  What a great day for these girls.  I probably speak for almost every parent on our team when I say that the girls played their best soccer yet this season today.  WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU GIRLS < hugz>!!!

Another highlight of the day was seeing my girl Donna.  After spending some time in a deer stand this morning, she decided that she would rather spend the rest of the day at the soccer field.  What an amazing person to come out there, hang out with a bunch of loud and crazy parents she doesn't even know - cheer for team Dyn-o-mite, and bring Lauren a Halloween treat, to boot.  We love you Donna, and are blessed to have you as a friend.  Thanks for stopping by, and I am already looking forward to swapping secrets when we get to Crop For A Cure in January.

Finally got back home about 5:00, to tired to even think about going back in to town to pick up dinner.  Thank goodness for leftovers.  So now it's chill time.  Disney Channel blaring (some new show called Jessie), lights out, cat at my feet, and ready to call it a night.  Lauren is sound asleep on the coach, and I can't decide whether or not I should just let her rest there, or put her in the bed.  Poor baby - I may just leave her there for awhile, as I love to watch her sleep.

Until next time all!

Am I crazy or what?  Please, don't answer that.  On top of the zillions of things already on my plate, I have this wild hair that I want to do a blog.  Hey, why not.  I love sharing all the gifts God has blessed me with, so why not share through my very own blog.

What can you expect to hear about - well of course ... scrapbooking (or lack thereof), my daughter's adventures in life, of course all her goings on with sports, being a Team Mom, somehow finding time to volunteer with PTA, and my two awesome kitties.

So here we go!
